The 350,000 tons/year potash plant project in Uyuni, Bolivia, was designed by China Bluestar Changsha Engineering and Technology, winning three industry awards. They are the Luban Award for Chinese Construction Project (Overseas Projects) issued by China Construction Industry Association, the High Quality Engineering Award for Chemical Industry (Overseas) granted by China National Association of Chemical Construction Enterprises, and the First Prize for Excellent Industrial Design of Hunan Outstanding Engineering Survey and Design Award 2019 presented by Hunan Provincial Survey and Design Association.
The potash project is located in the southwest of Bolivia’s Uyuni Salt Flat, known as the “Heaven on Earth,” with a total investment of about USD184 million. It is the first new project with Bolivia’s own funds and the first one contracted by China Bluestar Changsha Engineering and Technology in South America. With a construction period lasting nearly 3 years, the award-winning project was completed and put into operation in 2018. The project was designed in full compliance with international technical standards, with the three-dimensional design technology adopted in the entire process. The data-based and IT-based models for the project have been integrated to ensure high design accuracy, which has played a pivotal role in improving the quality and efficiency of production, saving costs, and shortening the construction duration. The Bolivia-based project has represented the international advanced level of the industry and served as a model set by China Bluestar Changsha Engineering and Technology in the field of potash engineering.
