Aquaculture Station by Adisseo (ASA), a new aquaculture R&D center of Adisseo in the Asia-Pacific region, has recently been established in Singapore to focus on aquatic animal nutrition and health and innovative aquatic technologies.

Located within the Marine Aquaculture Center (MAC) of the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), ASA will facilitate aquaculture research by tapping on SFA’s expertise in tropical aquaculture and gaining access to useful biological materials provided by MAC. ASA will also provide training on the use of technologies and processes of aquaculture to shrimp and fish farmers. ASA’s aquaculture expert team will promote the research development of aquaculture, especially fish and shrimp cultivation, to address the challenges in the industry jointly with global experts and scholars.

With the rapid development of commercial fisheries and aquaculture, quality feed becomes increasingly important to the health, development and reproduction of various farmed fish and shrimp species. For this reason, Adisseo has conducted solid research on nutrition and health. It has optimized feed through a better understanding of the nutritional and energy requirements, feed technology, and the interaction of pathogens, animals and water with the latest monitoring tools (AI and IoT) on the basis of the new fully integrated recirculation aquaculture system (RAS) that it has focused on, to upgrade aquafarm management, improve animal health and redefine the future of the aquaculture industry.

According to David Bal, Adisseo Head of R&D Aquaculture, “With this state-of-the-art research facility allowing full control of water parameters, we can better understand important factors like stress, nutritional deficiencies and the impact of diseases on animal performance and mortality. This will support farmers and feed mills.”

“Adisseo brings with them in-depth animal nutrition know-how, which will contribute to the vibrancy of Singapore’s R&D in agri-food sector,” said Dr. Tan Lee Kim, Director-General of Food Administration and Deputy CEO of SFA.

“This new project reinforces the group’s commitment towards the development of sustainable additive solutions in Asia and worldwide and is part of Adisseo worldwide animal Nutrition & Health R&D platforms. ASA research unit is unique in the region and its aim is to raise the bar to achieve the transition that our industry needs. We are very proud to invest in the aquaculture sector and accelerate technology transfer with our animal nutrition know-how,” said Jean-Marc, CEO of Adisseo.
